After six days in Las Vegas for WWD Magic, I AM HOME. ‘Twas my first time in Vegas: 1) for more than a weekend; 2) not going to a club; 3) not sharing a hotel room with 3 other girls. Safe to say that it was not a typical trip.
We flew in Sunday evening, checked into the Palazzo (where we were greeted with champagne in the VIP lounge!), had dinner at Grimaldi’s (I had no idea there were multiple locations outside of NYC), and called it a night. Monday was an incredibly long day of unpacking 293023 heavy boxes, steaming 500 pieces of clothing, setting up our booth, and getting ready for the show. Even though we were pretty much the only booth that had a team of girls only, we somehow survived (barely). *insert bicep emoticon*
A panoramic photo of our completed booth! Isn’t it beautiful?
Yes, we steamed each piece of clothing. My first time ever steaming and let me tell you, it’s harder and takes a lot longer than it looks!
Me with Everly co-founders and sisters, Adri & Fabe. 🙂
The show itself was in.sane, particularly the first day. We were on our feet for 12 hours, doing back to back (to back) sales with buyers. It was my first time doing sales/retail (like, ever, in life), and as an introvert, it was pretty mentally draining (not to mention physically). At the same time, it was pretty cool meeting and talking to tons of people from all over the U.S. By the end of the day, our feet were aching and our heads were spinning, so we got back to the hotel, ordered room service, and knocked out. Repeat Wednesday, ending with a team dinner at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak, & Stone Crab.
Above: Our team of 8, ready to go on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, respectively. We’re all decked out in Everly clothing! It was fun choosing our outfits each day.
After our last day of sales on Thursday, everyone flew home, except me and Fabe. The two of us finished up packing, had a late dinner at Pho Kim Long off the strip, and slept like babies.
Empty booth, all packed up and ready to be broken down and stored for the next Magic
On Friday morning, Fabe and I went back to the convention center one last time to finish packing, and then we finally flew home. Home sweet home.
A big thanks to Fabe & Adri for taking a chance on me and hiring me to coordinate Magic this year! It was a great experience and I learned tons. We had an amazing team of sweet and hard-working girls, which made the whole thing so much easier. Now, time to catch up on sleep all week. 🙂
