Oh Boy

After 3 months of commuting to Hollywood, crafting my heart out, and being a part of Joy’s awesome team, my Oh Joy internship ended this past Friday. I almost still can’t believe that all of this even happened– I’ve admired Joy’s work and brand for years (and her blog has always been my favorite!), so to work alongside her has been a dream. Though I’ll miss being in such a creative space with a million ideas coming to fruition at any given point, I honestly think I’m ready to move on.

I’m approaching the one year mark for having quit my full-time OT job, and I’m starting to feel a little restless. As much fun as it’s been exploring my creative passions these past 10 months, I’m doing some serious thinking to figure out what the next step is. I’m still at my OT clinic part-time and doing events/weddings on the side, but it may be time for another change. Ohhhh boy.

Anyway, my last day at Oh Joy was full of good food, fun, and laughter (as is often the case in her studio). One of her assistants had a birthday, so we ate lunch at the Ace Hotel in DTLA (the grilled cheese was to die for), devoured the infamous Lady M mille crepe cake (also to die for) back at the studio, and had Justin Timberlake blasting all day. Of course, we stopped for a quick photo shoot (below) when all of us, minus Joy, realized we were wearing outfits with back-cutouts. 🙂

“Flash-back-Friday”

Leaving something good behind is always bittersweet. But I’m ready to move forward, so I’m excited to see what lies ahead in this crazy life of mine.

Happy Monday, friends.

Oh Joy Party Hats

Last Friday, while Joy was out of the studio for a bit, Oh Joy staffer, Julia, decided we all needed to wear party hats. Joy’s Target line hats, of course. When Joy came in, we were all silently working, and she cracked up when she saw us. Of course, we had to have an impromptu photo shoot to document the moment…

Have a joyful Monday!

#ohjoyfornod

Hi everyone! Did ya’ll have a good weekend? I spent all day Saturday helping my dear friend Pri (recipient of the appliqué onesies turned cupcakes) 😉 shop for her nursery. We hit up Target, Ikea, Crate & Barrel, Anthropologie, West Elm, and best of all, The Land of Nod, where Joy’s collection launched just 4 days prior!

So cool seeing everything in person– such cute bedding, toys, and decor, all inspired by her daughter Ruby’s transition from a baby room to a big girl room. Pri bought a few things from Joy’s line, including the cutest stuffed elephant ever… it’s covered in sprinkles!

#ohjoyfornod FTW! Happy Monday!

Life Lately

Last Thursday, Jessica (from Bramble Workshop) and I went on a field trip. We walked around LA visiting a bunch of cool stores (and oh, there are so many), got inspired, and enjoyed the perfect weather.

First stop: CHAY. We both fell in love with this store…!

Ack. Lurrrrve all this gold. For more pictures of the store, check out designlovefest‘s post of CHAY from last week, all floral-ed out by Moon Canyon Design)

Third stop (second stop was the OK Store) was RTH. Upcycled robots + cement lightbulbs.

Perfect weather!

Today’s my last day working with Jessica. 😦 We’re still trying to figure out how we’ll continue to work together though, and she’ll be back in LA often enough for projects, so I guess it’s less a good-bye and more a see-you-later…!

A few pictures from our latest photo shoot for another DIY for designlovefest— a gorgeous amethyst mirror. I painted my nails for this one… -_- (too bad there’s nothing I can do about my veiny hands).

Oops my chicken legs.

Finally, a few pictures of my first project with Oh Joy— a photo shoot for a DIY table runner with Joy’s gold confetti from her Target line. It was literally the first thing I did when I walked through her studio doors on the first day of my internship. Is hand modeling in my future? Ha. Photos by Casey Brodley.

That’s all for now, folks. It’s been go-go-go and it’s gonna be another busy week. Let’s do this.
